Does anyone have any advice on cutting the aluminum panel under the dash? There is already a 3/4 inch hole where the horn button was relocated (why!?) so please do not hate on me for cutting into this but it is the best location for a new cd deck (since I have a new dash and the stock location is not feasible). My thinking is that in addition to more room inside the dash the lower location makes the "modern technology" less visible. As we know, the aluminum panels are fairly sturdy. I plan to not remove the panel for cutting but rather make a 7.25" by 2.25" hole as it is affixed. Cutting without too much vibration is the goal. If anyone has done this and can give technical advice, then I will be very appreciative. Thanks in advance.

Hi, where are you thinking of this? By the steering column?? Mine has the swing away so don't think there is room! I've got most of my dash apart at the moment, there isn't a lot of space behind the alloy trims anywhere so would be interested in what you are thinking. You can get CD units that can be mounted in the boot (trunk) and then have a wired controller which would be very easy to locate on the dash.
