Tom, unfortunately there is no official website that will give you the status of your VIN.
One thing I would suggest, though, is that you check out the newsgroup at
http://www.blueovalnews.com/ubb/
(Click on the Thunderbird" newsgroup.)
That newsgroup is more extensive than this one, and among other things it will link you to a very thorough datefile of all the T-Birds the group knows have been built and delivered so far, their VINs, destinations, colors, etc.
Of course, your dealer can check status every week. Right now, if you are the #2 car, your probably are indeed still on "temporary hold," but I anticipate that the #2 cars will start being delivered in December, depending on how many cars your dealer is allocated for the year.
