Difficulty connecting lift cylinder arm to frame

Replaced lift cylinder on 2005 T'bird. Unable to get lift cylinder arm to match up with frame mounting point. Convertible was not used for several years. Also, difficulty latching front of top to windshield mounting point on driver's side. Need advice on how to resolve this problem.

Replaced lift cylinder on 2005 T'bird. Unable to get lift cylinder arm to match up with frame mounting point. Convertible was not used for several years. Also, difficulty latching front of top to windshield mounting point on driver's side. Need advice on how to resolve this problem.

I had a similar problem with the top on my 2004 convertible. The top would not come forward enough to align the pins on the drivers side. After several attempts I reached up and pulled the top forward and tried closing it again. The pins aligned and I was able to close. After that I had no problems with closing.
