Thunderbird Year
2002
I have a 2004 grey Thunderbird. She needs a new transmission to the tune of 5 grand. I just can’t afford that at this time. I believe it’s time to sell but I have no idea if she has value and what that would be or if there is even a market for a non drivable bird. Looking for advice, suggestions

I have no idea if she has value
Without mileage, condition, general geographic area of car, photos etc it's impossible to even guess the value. Anytime a car is not running, that's not a good position to be in, because someone who does have the money or resources to fix the car is holding all the cards, so to speak.

Sorry details are important. She has about 68,000 miles on her. Body is perfect except for a small dent on the passenger side tail end. My dad bumped her parking. I understand this is very subjective. I would go out and take more pictures but it’s raining here so that will have to wait.

Just went through this same process. Dont know where you are located
you should shop more. Mine was $2,500 in September for a complete
rebuild with a one year warranty.

What is the diagnosis to determine replacement? How many miles on your transmission? A 2004 Tbird‘s 5R55S replacement/overhaul here in the greater Portland, Oregon area is around $3,200 to $3,500 MAX including up grades. Although there are no more new casings being manufactured, there are plenty of NEW internal parts. Ford ran this transmission in the Lincoln, Thunderbird, explorer, mustang, expedition for almost a decade of production. A reparable transmission repair shop knows the 5R55S and probably has repaired 100s. Note: most Ford/Lincoln dealers outsource transmission work that requires “out of frame” service. Beezer Bill

Before you do, I've seen that same unit w/ warranty for approx. $2,300. plus install. Came with a good warranty (5 yr) . Try this 888-842-0023 PowerTrain
