Hi. My 2004 Tbird its manual trunk lock behind driver seat wont open trunk? Battery dead and no way of getting in trunk? Before having to flat bed it to a mechanic, was hoping for any suggestions? Thank you!

My 2002 has a manual trunk lock behind the driver's seat that unlocks with the key itself. Do you have this? Just jumped my battery from it being garaged all winter & that's how we got in to the trunk. Hope it works!

Thank you very much with helping me with both information on cigarette charger, and how to properly post. Very appreciative. Hope this works.

Did you try a different key? My car has two coded keys and a valet key. The valet key will not operate the trunk unlock button on the driver's door or the luggage compartment lid lock cylinder behind the seat.

You can open the trunk by removing the lock cylinder by removing the components in the order indicated in the illustration and table and then removing the manual release cable from the lock cylinder.

or, if you have a portable charger, you can connect to the starter, that will power the system up. Then just use your key fob/

Interesting. I was recently doing some work on my engine on my '03 and had the battery disconnected in the trunk. Usually I just put a rag at the trunk lock to prevent it from closing and locking. I overlooked doing that for the first time and had a momentary panic. I then remembered about the remote lock behind the driver's seat. I simply inserted the key I use to start the vehicle and turned. The trunk unlocked immediately allowing me access to reconnect my battery.
