Hello! I was hoping to find out some information about these media kits!

I received one of these media kits in 2002 at a Ford Motor Company ceremony for the release of the new 2002 Thunderbird, as my husband worked for Ford Motor Company Head Office in Edmonton Canada at the time.

It was a very exciting day as I also got to drive the new Thunderbird Blue model!

The colour of the diecast version in my kit is Thunderbird Blue. From all of my scouring of the internet, I have yet to see this media kit with the Thunderbird Blue diecast variant. This is a complete kit and has never been out of the box except for a quick look and to take photos

I’m basically looking for a value estimate of this kit and suggestions on what a fair retail price would be. I’m also curious as to how many of these were released and why I’ve yet to see one online that is “Thunderbird Blue”

I am looking to sell it and I also received a collector’s edition book titled “Ford 100 years in Canada” which I will also include.

For anyone who is interested, If you require any further info or photos, don’t hesitate to ask!

At any rate, thank you in advance for any and all help and information you can provide.

Much appreciated,
Kristen Williams

These things were called “Press Kits” and were distributed to the press at the introduction of the retro Thunderbird at the North American Auto Show in Detroit in….2000? The kits had the small die-cast models in all the 2002 Thunderbird colors……Inspiration Yellow, Torch Red, Thunderbird Blue, Whisper White and Evening Black. Interestingly enough, when we sold our home in the Detroit area in 2003 and retired to Florida, the purchaser of our home worked for the advertising agency for Ford who did all the promotion for the new Thunderbird. He saw our Thunderbird Blue in our garage and said…” we have about 100 of the Thunderbird press kits in a closet of our office and we are just going to throw them away……DO YOU WANT THEM”?? I jumped at the chance and ended up selling for $100.00 each after giving away several. I never even kept one for myself. We are on our 5th retro Thunderbird now after owning 2 Thunderbird Blues, a Monterey Mist Green Pacific Coast Roadster, a Medium Steel Blue with blue convertible top and our current Coral James Bond 007 Edition (our favorite of all the retros)!
