2002 2003 2004 2005 Wind Deflector Screen Baffle

I looked into these and afer reading several users' experiences decided to forego the extra
complexity for (what I consider) minimal add'l comfort. To wit, check out some others reviews before
buying one of these deflectors.
 
I was looking at a 2002-2005 this AM and saw this pic showing a plexiglass piece with some velcro straps. My guess is it's a wind block for just behind and between the seats. Has anyone else seen one of these? And if you have one, is it effective?
I've seen ones made of a netting material on Miatas and other convertibles, and wondered about something like that for our 2005 Bird.
