The battery was low. I believe the contacts in solenoid welded themselves together as it wanted to start as soon as a charged battery was installed and connected it would start to turn over without key in ignition. There was some heavy arching when connected. I replaced the solenoid and now the engine will not turn over at all when I try to start it. Had battery load tested at local auto parts store and they said it was good. But I do have my doubts. Anyone have any ideas of what else it could be? T.I.A.

You probably have the small wires on the solonoid reversed. One ignites the the solonoid, the other is for the ignition.
