1978 new door seals fitment

I have a 78 and just installed new door seals from Dennis Carpenter. When you close the door, there is not enough room between door and the A pillar end where the seal meet together for the the door to close. The two ends of the seals top and bottom are to fat, if I were to try and close the door I'd probably bend the hinges. Called Carpenters sent pic waiting for call back. Any suggestions on how to fix short of grinding them down. Carpenters say they are an exact fit.
