1971 Heater Core Removal

Need a little help on pulling the heater core. Should I pull the hood to start?
I replaced the hc in my 1970. It’s a bit challenging - hood off, transmission dipstick must be removed. I also had to remove the oil pressure sensor and passenger side hood hinge. This relatively easy repair on most cars is quite challenging due to access issues
