Greetings, The '66 came out of winter storage the other day. While warming up, and engine got hotter, had some whitish smoke coming from driver's side exhaust manifold area. It was not an oil/antifreeze/fluid smell. Upon further investigation it looks like the middle section of the rubber sleeve over the PS pressure hose somehow burned/ "melted." Not sure why this happened, as last year everything was fine. The hose was not touching the manifold; inch or 2 clearance, hoses are run in stock location. So, couple questions. My mechanic is 2 miles away. I don't want to risk melting the hose itself and spewing PS fluid while driving so could I put some sort of wrap around the open area of the rubber sleeve to block manifold heat (save $100 towing 😁)--or is this a dumb idea--just pay the tow? Then, I need the pressure and return hoses, will change both. What is a good supplier/source for these? And, is there a way to prevent this problem rearing its smoky head in the future--like re-route the hose further from manifold? Not sure if this is possible as hose is "pre-made" to set length. Anyway, that's my tale of woe. Any suggestions appreciated! Regards, Larry
