Can anyone definitively confirm that the 8track side of the AM/8track player is actually stereo and not mono with a fader control?

This probably needs to be posted on a audio forum to get a good answer.

The Audio device was AM/8 track. The 8 Track is Stereo with a speaker in each door.

'The new AM Radio/StereoSonic Tape System featured two speakers in each door to surround occupants with the "living" sound of true stereo'
A word of note: Even though it was a stereo player, many tapes were only recorded in Monaural. The STEREO/MONO was usually identified on the Cartridge.

Speaking of these am/8-tracks, anyone know where I can get one repaired? I have 5 that needewpaires, and would love to have one work without tape dragging.
