1965 hood turn signal indicators removal

Discussion in '1955 - 1966 Classic Ford Thunderbird' started by Hank Chinaski, Sep 4, 2017.

  1. 1965 turn signal indicators on front hood. What tool can I use to remove and replace bulb from housing and what type of bulbs are used here? Thx

  2. The bulb according to the owner's manual is 1157A... Haven't found a specialty tool for removing the slotted nut holding the lens in place. Option 1: use an old screwdriver or equivalent grounded to fit; Option 2: Grind an old socket of the correct outside diameter leaving two matching tabs to engage the nut. I found a spare 12mm socket that's almost perfect. Note: All sockets are not the same thickness so be sure to measure carefully if you try this option. The one I modified was 16.63mm or .6545 inches outer diameter. Good luck!
