Hi All, for sale is a great 1964 Thunderbird Convertible. A little background - I've owned this car for about ten years; purchased it from a friend in California who was de-cluttering prior to a move back east. I believe it lived most of its life out there even before he owned it, although I don't know its prior history. I'm not a huge t-bird guy (I prefer my '70 Buick Electra 225), but I felt I was helping someone by keeping the car "in the family" so to speak. The car ran and drove when I got it but needed a bit of maintenance. I was working full-time then so sent it out to a restoration shop for some repairs. They did a bunch of things, including new brakes and brake lines, made the convertible top go up and down again, and rebuilt the steering column because, although it never did, it felt like it was going to slip out of Park when idling, and I had read a few horror stories of similar incidents. I spent a lot considering what the car was worth, but I was pot-committed, as they say. Next significant repair was a new rear end, also professionally installed. Recently, I've had more time on my hands, so I had the generator rebuilt when it wouldn't charge and the power steering pump rebuilt when it started to make that noise that means you need the power steering pump rebuilt. I also recently replaced the rag joint when it fell apart and installed a new radiator because I found that the old one had rotted and started to leak all over my garage floor when I uncovered it for the season. The 390 is strong and the transmission shifts nicely. For a car that heavy, it actually has some get up and go on the highway. Most electrical things work: signals, brake lights, wipers, power windows (some faster than others). Radio is an aftermarket install under the dash and there is something in the dash where the original radio goes with a Thunderbird emblem on it, but I doubt its originality given its tape deck. The car is triple black, but I suspect may have originally been blue, or had the original dashboard replaced with a blue one painted black. The door sticker picture is included for those who can interpret such things. It also comes with the tonneau cover in really good shape. With or without that cover, the car gets a lot of looks and is really fun to drive, especially summer nights in Manhattan when the parking isn't too bad. Car is garaged in Woodside, Queens, New York City. I did some searches and think a fair asking price is $14000, which is less than half what I have put into it.
