I have several best friends named Manual --electrical manual -- assembly manual --Detroit iron manual --64 Thunderbird manual I can see the wiring but nowhere do I see a location for the relay.

I would start at the indicator and work backwards. Assuming you checked the light bulb itself. Could be as simple as that. Other than that there is probably a circuit pack that flips a switch when the resistance from the sender hits a certain point.
