Hi all, having some trouble with my Cruie-O-Matic in my 63 that is giving me a bit of a run around. The main issue is that it doesn’t want to engage in drive immediately when first setting off. I give it gas and it starts idling higher as if it’s in neutral, and trying to find drive. Going in and out of finding the gear and eventually settling into it.
After a drive, it seems to have worked itself out and doesn’t act off at stop lights. Yet sometimes seems to act up after parked for an hour or so.
Per the manual, I have adjusted my carb and the fast idle on it which seemed to maybe help slightly but also could be just a “better time” when I tested it.
Manual reads to “check control pressure” along with a number of other causes for this. Which is also where I am confused because out of the list they give of issues, having some trouble deciding which one it actually is??(picture attached of list)
The transmission is the original as far as I’m concerned, only 77k on the odometer, and has not really been an issue prior to about a week or so ago.
My only other thing I will add is that I park on a slight hill that has the car starting going UPHILL, not a crazy slope but maybe 5-10° incline. I understand that isn’t helping but I assume the car should be able to engage normally at that angle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you, James
