1963 power steering pump can it cause engine to run rough

1963 Thunderbird power steering pump. Can it cause the engine to run rough. Making squealing noises when turning when stopped and engine is running rough. p/s pulley has 1/4” of play forward and backward. Any help to diagnose engine rough only at idle. Runs great otherwise. Tri-power carburetors just rebuilt and run good.

What does "rough" mean, lays down on acceleration, has a miss, bot, stumble, poor idle..
The power steering pump should not affect engine running to the point any of these occur.
How can you say the carbs run good yet the engine runs rough ?
