The fitting on high power line into steering gear has a leak. I removed it, cleaned thread and applied pipe dope. It still seeps. Doe anyone have a good idea for fixing it?

Pipe dope will not fix a leak on a metal-to-metal compression fitting. Your best bet is to replace the line and fitting, make sure that the female socket on the steering box is CLEAN, then tighten down the fitting. Unscrew and re-tighten the fitting several times to insure that the fitting is properly seated.
