I recently put a C-6 in my ‘64. (I’m sure a ‘63 is very similar). First, mine is a convertible, so I had extra bracing to deal with. The stock front transmission crossmember had to be “squared”, as the front of a C-6 is flat across the bottom. (Originally, it was an “arc” around the front of the Cruise-o-matic). You have to modify/extend the rear crossover mounts. (I found a ‘66 with a C-6, and I copied the rear mounts. They have to be extended about 1 1/2” on both sides. Also, you have to find a C-6 made for an FE engine. You have to get a FE C-6 Torque Converter. I used my ‘64 flex plate and starter. The oil/coolant lines have to be modified to connect to the C-6, and I used the stock shift linkage, but it had to be “tweaked” (bent a little bit) to fit properly. (‘66 TBirds with C-6s have a different shift linkage. Additionally, you will have to modify vacuum line from intake manifold to transmission. I was criticized at the time for using a C-6 instead of a later trans with overdrive. Looking back, I wish I had done that, as I do a lot of highway cruising.
