Hello all, this is a bit of a multiple question/inquiry post.
I’ll start by saying I recently purchased a 63 and dove headfirst into this wonderful world! I have been around cars my entire life, my father introducing me. His knowledge is all over, but mostly prewar Fords and muscle era Chevy, with plenty of fun stuff in between.
That being said, the birds fall into a category that he hasn’t personally touched as much, so my questions are his questions with some of this.
To the point. Going through the car, I’ve come across some aftermarket mods, and upgrades, most of which I am very pleased with.
It has been converted to disc brakes, with what appears to be a 65 set up but I am here to figure that out!
1st Question, is it a 65? Or what year, if it is a Thunderbird?
2. Are the calipers OEM or aftermarket, as I am having Hard time finding Kelsey Hayes with those cast numbers(may be typing them wrong).
3. Which brake booster do I have? I see multiple listed on Birdnest, but mine doesn’t appear to look like any of the ones shown??
4. I would like to upgrade to a dual MC, I have seen a lot on this but again, I can’t tell what year or booster I have, to find a MC that will work.
5. My brakes seem to be working fine. A little tight, but they stop. Not an all out skid, but will stop. I checked fluid and is it possible there is TOO much fluid? The pedal depresses but only about 2in. Maybe I am just used to my modern car.

Thank you in advance and I can provide any other photos if needed!
James

Hello, the calipers look to be the 1965 Thunderbird Kelsey Hayes. The booster however looks to be the original 1963 Midland version used from 61-64.; the master cylinder looks to be a 1965 version with the clip lid. 61-64 had a screw on lid.
I hope this helps. You could also go down the rabbit hole on you tube to see what you have got. A great site is 'vintage Thunderbird repair' lots of relevant info and well respected guy, Nick who used to run a shop called 'tbirds by nick'
