Hello
I am planning to install a main disconnect for the battery on my car.
I read somewhere that you should polarized the field winding on the generator every time you change the regulator, generator or the battery.
Is this true? And if so do I need to do the same every time I use the disconnect?
Is there any difference if I put the disconnect on the positive or negative battery cable?

The disconnect should always be on the negative terminal. I have not had recurring issues using one.
