The speedometer on my 1962 hardtop is wonky, the needle is bouncing around. A friend of mine said that the cable needs to be lubed. He suggested any oil with graphite in it. I haven't been able to find such an oil. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the best lube would be?

One thing you may want to check is how tight the cable was screwed into the back of the speedometer. My 56 did the exact same thing even after I lubed the cable and as soon as I loosened it the speedometer worked just fine.

@doug7740 I converted that PDF to a JPG and attached so it can be viewed easier online. Thanks for writing that, as you have seen, its a hot topic!
