I took my 62 Thunderbird to get the alignment done and they said that I needed an adjustable strut rod because the stock one has run out of adjustment. Has anyone else had this problem? I can’t find an adjustable one on the web. Am I missing something? Any ideas would be welcome.

As for “struts”, I thought a ‘62 had shocks and coil springs, not struts.
There should be adjustment plates (shims) for camber, etc. and adjustable rods for toe in.
My ‘61 has quite a few shims wedged in there, on both sides, but she goes pretty straight.

They said that the adjustable rod is fully adjusted. No more shims can fit.

The 62 will have a Rubber Bushing in the front of the Strut. If worn out, this will need to be replaced. Changing the strut will not give you more adjustment.
Be sure that the tech is checking with the car is on level, since it can be distorted if in the air.

Where are you referring to when adding shims? The only way that I can see for adjusting the strut rod is by moving it back and forth in the slotted holes where the flat part of the strut rod bolts to the lower control arm.

Are you guys talking about adding shims to where the upper control arm rod bolts to the frame?

If you look carefully. you will spot the the rubber bushings in and outside of the mounting. If still ok, you should be looking at some other parts that might need replacing.
