1960 Difficulty opening glove compartment

Cannot open glove compartment without sticking something in the crack between the door and the dashboard and pulling on the door at the same time pressing the button. I've tried lubricating the mechanism and still no luck. Any suggestions on how to fix or where can I get a replacement that will hopefully work?

The door hinge should be ajustable as is the catch mounted on the dash. The catch on the dash should move front and back. The door hinge should have movement front-back and side-side.
