1960 AC Evaporator insulation removal

I removed my AC evaporator box and noticed that the original insulation that is in there could probably be replaced as it is cracked and old. I am NOT sure what it is made of. Is it asbestos? Can anyone recommend how I'd remove the old insulation and replace it with ???? ( I do have Dynamat material if that would work )... Any suggestions would help...
