I am closing in on finishing the restoration of my 57 and would like to add a convertible top. This car came with a hard top and not sure if any structural changes are needed to convert to convertible. Also need to locate a source and instructions for installation. Have seen reproduction convertible tops listed on ebay but would like to know if anyone has had issues with aftermarket tops.

As mentioned yesterday in the post below, how is anyone supposed to know what your post is about when you title it "1957"?

In the area you typed 1957, it prompts you to post your 4 digit model year + a short summary of what your post is about.

Folks, please title your posts as prompted. We depend on your cooperation to keep the site user-friendly and search engine friendly!

I usually update the title, but this is getting out of hand for some reason! Locking the thread in hopes of people seeing this and titling their own posts correctly!

All 1955-57 T-Birds were setup as convertibles that could either have a hardtop, soft top, or both. There are no special changes required for installing the soft top. The soft-tops available from the T-Bird parts suppliers bolt right in as long as they have the swing bar as did the original soft tops had. These tops are not exact copies of the original top, but they work quite will and look good when in the up position. If you want more information on how the soft top works check your owner's manual
