1957 valve stems for turbine wheel covers

I’m removing my spoked wheels and fitting standard steel wheels. I have turbine style wheel covers to fit when the new wheels arrive, looking at the spare wheel the valve stem appears to be a bit short. Do you have to use longer valve stems to check tyre pressures.

Back in the day, ford used regular 1 1/2” valve stems with a cute little stainless steel extension with cap to reach outside the hubcaps. Various T Bird suppliers list them.
They function well and look good 👍
 
I have always needed extensions. When I got new tires I asked for longer valve stems and they said they would put on the longest they had but there were no longer than the old ones and I still needed extensions. I have tried a couple different style extension include the ones which show a color band to indicate tire pressure. In every case if I screwed them on tight I wound up with a flat tire because the extension pin fit too tightly to the regular stem's pin. I now leave the extensions about half a turn loose to make sure it's pin doesn't touch the valve stems pin.
 
I have had good luck with Long Valve stems from Eckler's .com. They are 2.91" long at 5.99 ea. last I looked. PN# EK-66-847921-1. They worked well on my 1955 with chinese Dodge Lancer hubcaps.
