My first "50s" vehicle just purchased. Turn signals work outside the car, but I hear no "clicks" and see nothing on the dash indicating a turn signal is on. Does this "modern" feature exist in the 50s or do i need that serviced? Handbook doesn't seem to illustrate (PG 6) that the dash features that operation.

The indicators for the turn signal are at about 10 and 2 in relation to the speedometer. True, they are not shown in the owners manual. Maybe the bulbs are burned out or out of the sockets. They are green indicators.

My '57's dash turn signal indicators aren't particularly bright, which matches my experience with the '59 full-size Fords and '58 Lincolns. Maybe the indicators are supposed to use a brighter bulb than the gauge illumination bulbs? Maybe not, I haven't researched it. Meanwhile, there ARE louder flasher units out there, like this one: https://shorturl.at/6VF8T. They're not a giant improvement, but louder than the typical stock ones.

I have used LED replacement bulbs - works well.
