While sitting for a few weeks during this winter, gas starts to overflow out the filler pipe - twice. It happened last witer as well. What could cause it to happen all of a sudden?

The gas line has a steel breather line back to the tank level to allow drop in pressure to let you fill in faster. My 57 is a pain in the rear to fill. I made sure this line was open and it was. Still, I have to fill it slowly. There is also a rubber line at the bottom rear of the tank that can split open. Make sure this line is in good shape.

Thanks for your reply. The wierd this is that it's leaking out between the filler tube between the tube & the gas cap.

Sounds like the gas is expanding and forcing it's way out of the gas cap. Is the tank full when this happens? With a full tank on a warm day this can happen.
