1957 emergency brake warning light

I’m looking for how to correctly set up the switch that activates the dash warning light for the emergency brake. It was just hanging when I found my project car. It currently comes on and goes off without a pattern I can’t figure out. It seems like the bracket mounts to the air vent as there is a nut and bolt there I cant account for.
