I’m new to this forum but not to the automotive hobby! I have a question and perhaps some help about the Y-block rear down draft tube that’s dripping a small amount of oil after taking the car for a drive. It’s not old dirty oil because I’ve changed the oil, it leaves about a 3 inch circle of oil directly under the tube. What do you think would cause it to pee out some oil? Now I’ve heard about removing the tube and installing a PCV system in its place many moons ago but don’t remember if you can purchase it as a kit or did the guys source it out individually? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Could be too much blowby. When the engine is warmed up pull the oil filler cap and see how much blowby you are getting out of there. Also see if you have a breather cap or a sealed cap. I think it should be a breather cap with the downdraft tube as that would be where the air could get in that the tube is supposed to draw thru and out the engine. I have a PVC system that uses a closed cap that instead has a tube on the side so it can draw air in from a connection to the air filter assembly... or if blowby was a bit too much, like when accelerating, it would let the blowby go back toward the carb and get burned in the engine. If you don't think you have excessive blowby you could convert to a PVC system... the various vendors have kits to make the conversion. The main thing that might be an issue is where you can connect to the manifold vacuum.... some carbs have a connection for it on their base, some don't and you need to make the connection at the manifold itself behind the carb.
