Can't seem to resolve a leaky oil filter. Changed the oil, new F-1 filter, leaks from filter. Over tightened? Under tightened? replaced the new one with another new one tried to hand tighten but more leaking when running. Tightened with the tool and it's better but still leaks when running - like ounces not drops. Any suggestions?

The modern oil filters are not what was original on the early birds, so you probably have an adapter between the oil filters and the engine block and that is what is leaking. You will need to remove the adapter and replace the seal/gasket where it contacts the engine block and that should solve your problem. However it is an old Ford and as you solve one leak another will probably appear. Hope this helps.

Do not take offense at this question, but did the old filter gasket stick to the fitting when you removed it thereby doubling up the gaskets? I had a friend who had that problem.
