Thunderbird Year
1956
I purchased a 1956 last year, and when disconnecting everything to remove the dash, I noticed the OEM Motorola model 69MS radio appears the have two power leads. But, only one was connected, the other was cut off and just capped20260315_154718.jpg. Does anyone know what the other wire is for?
The radio was working before I removed it.

Congratulations on your new ride...
I'm a retired EE I was able to find a schematic for your radio on the web!
This radio was very advanced in function for 1956.
The capped lead, I believe, is for attachment to the dashboard lights.

Thanks Doc, I thought that may have been for dash lights, but it always lights when turned on. I did noticed that when I removed the radio, it appeared as if someone had opened the case for something due to a couple missing screws. Maybe someone wired it internally to light all the time.
