1956 gas leaking out of carburetor

Has electric fuel pump. When key is on, engine is not, gas spews over top and out drivers side of carburetor. Is this indication of too much pressure or carb needs rebuild?

You should try adjusting float and checking fuel pressure

Original fuel system operates on about 5 LB pressure. You should have a adjustable pressure regulator in your system

In my case with the exact problem, my pressure was too high. Installed an inline pressure gauge. Dropped the pressure from 8psi to 4-5psi and the problem disappeared. My carb was recently rebuilt.
