OK, thinking some might like to see this one so I'm sharing again
I hate what some call "idiot lights" that often turn on after the harm has already been done
So, I decided to add some aftermarket gauges and through searching finally found some Autometer gauges
with a pretty close matching font and they also came with a Ford emblem inside
Albeit almost $500 of my wife's money on gauges, sending units and a 6 week wait to build them
Hating the standard 3-gauge bracket that hangs down under the dash I determined something better was needed
Found a picture of a 1957 F code Thunderbird with the McCulloch supercharger and the needed gauge pod
So, with some 3D computer modeling and my son printing some plastic parts to check the fit it finally became time to make some chips
I'm really liking how this is coming along. Making the clamp brackets now and figuring out the wiring
Clearing the turn signal arm was the tricky part, and it seems to fit better and not block the stock speedometer, fuel and temp gauges
A big chunk of aluminum and many spindle hours later
Planning on a fine blasted satin finish with electroless nickel plating, a thin sheet of adhesive backed rubber to protect the steering column
I also posted a picture of a 1957 unit so all can see what I'm aiming for
I'll post more when it's finished, enjoy the pics
All be well
Bobby
