1955 with no Windshield Washer

My 55 has no windshield washer capability. No nozzles, no reservoir bag, nothing. It does have windshield wipers that work just fine. I've seen lots of pictures of 55 birds where I can see the nozzles, never saw any that didn't have them. I can't imagine taking it out on a day where I'd need washers, but I just thought it was an odd thing. Was that an option back then? My theory is that when they had a restoration in 1993, they decided they wanted a show car so they removed them. Does that make sense?

There are lots of sites that list all the options for each year, and the original costs (see ex https://over-drive-magazine.com/2024/10/02/1956-ford-thunderbird-fact-sheet/ ). Ford offered it as an option "Windshield washers ($10)". I see few images of T-Birds with the washer option, and usually only in cars that were loaded with all/most other options. My bird has most options except Windshield washers ($10) and Back-Up Lights ($8.50), and I personally wouldn't want to ever spray my convertible with washer fluid that gets everywhere ... I think a spare rag is much more ideal.
 
The washer jets are attached to the cowl area. If they were removed, there should be some residue under the dash to show that the holes have been filled. The same goes for the floor pan where the washer pump goes through and on the left inner fender where the washer bag was located. I am not as concerned about the washer fluid causing damage. if that is a concern, you can fill the bag with distilled water, but if you use a window cleaner such as Windex, you are using a chemical that is much harsher than that used in washer fluid. If you want the washers, you can purchase the kit from the Thunderbird suppliers and install. If you know someone that has a car with the option, you can take the measurements from that car to get the bag, nozzles and pump located in the correct area.
