I have no key to open the glove box and locksmith has no suggestions! Anyone able to solve this problem?

Locksmith sounds like an idiot! Any lock can be picked especially one this old and simple!

Locksmith lawyer sells picking tools.

PS since we are an all Ford Thunderbird site you can omit the make & model of your car from the post title which has now been revised.

Trunk key should unlock the glove box but may have been swapped out at some point. I don't know who your locksmith is but a good locksmith should be able to pick the lock, I have done it myself and I'm no pro, just followed a you tube video, or you can use a thin sheet of stiff plastic and by sliding it in the top gap of the door with a little trial and error you can slip it past the lock tab and open the door.
You may need to apply a little pressure to the door to let the lock tab lift

It's a simple lock to play with, If you jiggle the trunk key you might get it to open.

It may be that it's not locked. As seatramp mentioned, you may need to push in on the door at the same time as you are pushing in on the lock to get it to release. That's what I have to do with mine. You can feel the lock go in when the pressure is off, the keep pressing the lock in while you release the door itself and it may open.
