Looking to find a cover (top and sides) for an Optima 6v battery to make it look original. NPD, THQ make a top only, not sides. Checked lots of sites, most out of business, except Tar Toppers. Any other suggestions aside from purchasing the 6v (new) battery at $300 plus? Thank you

I did just exactly this on my '55 (prior to selling it.)...I made the sides out of 1/8 inch plywood. As you know anything you make has to fit into the hold down frame......You will need small triangular braces at all four corners to give stability..... and the top was made out of a piece of formica....the top has to be thin so that the battery cables can attach properly. The height of the optima is not sufficient so I used a block of wood under the Optima to bring it up to the correct height (so that the hold downs will work)...hope this all makes sense..........you may call me at 250-766-1503 if you wish.

Ordered the Tar Topper product; the owner (Scott) was very helpful. When I receive it, I will post and advise as to how it looks and ease (or not) of installation.
