Replacing the 6 volt starter in my third. I pulled out the old starter and compared it to the the rebuilt starter I purchased. The shaft on the rebuilt starter is 5 1/8 inches long while the original starter shaft is 5 3/4 inches long. I am worried that with the shorter shaft, that the flywheel will always be engaged on the Bendix drive. Does anyone have experience using the shorter shaft starter? See attached image with original starter on the left and rebuilt on the right.
