Thunderbird Year
1956
In the past year or so I have become involved with classic Thunderbird's. The 61 convert was identical to one my father owned. A friend owned a 55 Minter and helped find a 56 that my wife has claimed. Not drawn to the Squarebird's but a 64-66 woul;d look good in the garage.
A nice driver with few issues. Probably too old for serious resto projects. Convert or coup and needs a/c. More stock the better although practical mods such as Petronix, Edelbrock , maybe a 4 speed AOD instead of the Cruise-o-matic are fine. This is not a concours car just club events. Willing to pay more for less rust...
I am just a retired hobbiest who buys one or two cars a year as they catch my interest and sell when the is no hope of recovering the price and repairs..

Anyone swapped a AOD onto a 390? Looking to reduce the highway rpms for more comfortable road travel.
