ISO 2004 Intermediate Steering Shaft

My mechanic tells me I need a new intermediate steering shaft because the steering wheel is binding at low speeds making it difficult to drive. It does not make any noises, and the car has only 14,000 miles
He tells me the part has been discontinued. Can you advise me on what my options are, and can the part be rebuild although my mechanic says he cannot do it.
I live in south Florida and don't know where to go for another opinion or option.

Mechanic didn't tell you your options? Sounds like you need a new mechanic that is more motivated to repair the car.

Need one from a junk car probably.
