A recent 55 owner bought an air cleaner top cover and a specific filter to fit but I don’t recall the particular filter model if any one can answer?
Most all aftermarket air cleaners are for a 5-1/8 in. neck carb. I haven’t found one to fit my
5-1/4 in. neck. Or to fit the original 55 carburetor.

If you bought an air filter that uses a paper element, it is an aftermarket unit. The factory air filter on these cars was an oil bath unit that did not use a replaceable element.
