I have a 1961 ford thunderbird convertible.
When I accelerate from a complete stop, there seems to be a slight hesitation.
Also, the engine has shut off a few times when trying to accelstate after sitting overnight.

Could be the fuel pump is going or the fuel filter is plugged. I just changed out my fuel pump was having the same issues. Not expensive and just two bolts and two hoses. Takes about 20 minutes to do. The fuel filter is on the bottom of the pump on my car pretty sure that yours is too. Just did it yesterday and the car is running great.

When was your tank last checked? I replaced on my 64 the tank after replacement of : fuel pump, fuel lines, and added a clear lens fuel filter between tank out and fuel pump in. So much settlement that lays right under the flow out tap of the tank.

I had the tank replaced in 2005, when I replaced the fuel pump I checked the filter and it was fine. The problem was the diafram just wore out after 54 years (planned obsolescence?) LOL

I am rebuilding the original pump and it will stay with the car.
