1994 Grand Marquis engine swap

My 4.6 motor threw rod so I am replacing the motor and transmission with a motor and tranny out of 1995 grand Marquis. The shifting cable setup is not the same. Can it be modified to work for a Thunderbird?

Not easily unless you are confident opening up the transmission and swapping out the linkage assy. Why are you not using the transmission from your bird?
 
Basically you have to remove the pan, and remove the shift linkage assy. It's not a big job but most people just don't want to work on the transmission. I have done it before on other transmissions. The console shift works backwards if I remember correctly.
