1964 stalls when braking

Runs great at idle in park and I step on the brakes but when I put it in drive and put on the brakes it stills out

There is a vacuum switch that activates a vacuum motor to release the parking brake when you shift out of park and into "gear". Most likely the hose has broken or come off or the vacuum motor has a bad leak. You can just plug it if you want and release the parking brake manually. You should be able to hear the hiss from the leak when it's in gear.
 
Yes or possibly the booster or connection to the booster is leaking?
