Please help!?!?!
I have a 63 bird in restoring. I've run into an electrical malfunction. Ad most know the 63 has the slide away steering wheel. Was having problems starting so I by passed it and installed a push button. It works sometimes but not all the time. Now I have no power and when I jump the solenoid to start the car the starter keeps going. Just trying to make this a running project. I know it's a long shot but any ideas??

Solenoid is sticking, when you jump it and your push button switch may not be making good contact. They are cheep and made in China now.

Highly likely a sticking solenoid, when starting the starter is engaged by an electro-magnetic force "sucking" the teeth into flywheel engagement and when that force is removed (via switch) a strong spring should retract the starter drive.

I have seen a low battery cause the solonoid to stick also.
