1957 - Block heater recommendations

I live in Minnesota where it often gets below zero and my garage isn't heated so I'd like to install a block heater.

Any advice on the best block heater to use?

I lived in Minnesota for about 40 years before having the opportunity to live in a warmer climate. The winters up there are absolutely terrible. I can handle the snow but the cold gets down to -50 degrees sometimes. My truck always sat outside with a snowplow on the front because my driveway was about 300 ft. long. I installed two of those soft plug heaters and the truck would start every morning regardless of how cold it was. Moving it when it'
s that cold is a whole different problem. The seat felt like you were sitting on a cinder block or something real hard and the automatic transmission needed more than a few minutes to warm up so that it operated correctly. My recommendation is the soft plugs, or frieze plugs in the block are the way to go. I hooked mine up on a timer so that I didn't use so much electricity all night long. Those shown on the above-mentioned web site would be my choice, I would stay away from the screw in type. (Just my opinion).
