I rebuilt my power steering control valve back in February of this year replacing the rubber seals and aluminum bushings. I've been driving around since then and have put probably 100 miles on since I refurbished the power steering system and have experience no issues, not even a single leak, but this past weekend I noticed the control valve begin to leak heavily at the ball stud after I had done some other work under the car. When I started the car the ps fluid just began to pour out of the ball stud housing cover. I'm assuming the seals have failed, but can't figure out why they would just all of a sudden start leaking like crazy after they'd been working just fine? The only thing I did while working on the underside of my car was turn the wheels out of the way to be able to get under the car more easily on both sides of the car. It seems odd that by turning the wheels when the car isn't rolling would cause the seals to fail immediately and it wasn't like all the weight was on the front wheels, as I had the car jacked up a bit to give me more room to squeeze under it.
I've been told you can double up the seals on the control spindle but am not quite sure how this works.
Anyone encountered this same issue and how did you resolve it? Anyone do the "double up" of the rubber seams and how is this done?
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance anyone can offer.
