I'm in the process of replacing the hardtop weather stripping on my 1956.
Everything appears to be straight forward except for the narrow outer seal that wedges into the chrome trim. The part that goes into the channel offset. So, does the seal part face in or out?20260325_195645.jpg

How does that stainless strip attach tp the edge of the top ?

This is something I saved from a discussion of this issue previously.

The instructions shown are correct but it a little confusing when it says "pointing down towards the car". The top is most likely resting upside down so the three pointed ridges will be sticking up out of the stainless. When I did mine the Stainless just pressed on around the edge of the Top. I used a rubber mallet in a couple stubborn spots (very carefully and gently) to seat it. The stainless profile groove is a little pointed on one side (I think it was the side towards the inside of the Top), that matches the profile of the rubber. I inserted the rubber like the instructions above and also used a putty knife to press in into place. I worked around and had to go back to spots that weren't seated all the way. My rubber strip was extra long and had to be trimmed when I got to the ends. Don't stretch it when seating it or when you trim it , it might pull back and then be too short. It really wasn't as hard as I originally thought it was going to be.
