1955 Power Seat will not move back

I have a newly acquired 1955 in good shape, but the power seat will not move backwards, vertical works fine. The switch works and the motor works.. I have disconnect both clevis pins to horizontal and vertical.. The motor operates and turns freely. Even with the clevis pins removed, seat still won't budge. Am I missing something? I would have thought with the clevis pins removed the seat would slide front and back. I have checked the jack screw to make sure it is not hung up on anything. At a loss at the moment. Thanks!

when you try to move the seat back and forth, does the motor hum or engage with the forward and reverse switch? If the motor tries to turn and the seat does not move, you may have to clean and lubricate the tracks. This is a good idea, even if the seat works. Every ten to 15 years you should clean and lubricate the tracks.

I had a similar problem. The seat would go forward but it wouldn't go all the way back to where it should be. I found that when the rusted floor was replaced, the mounting bracket for the seat motor was installed too far forward. I had to move the seat all the way back on it's tracks. Then cut the motor anchor bracket from the floor. Collapse the motor all the way and drill holes thru the floor and mount the bracket with bolts. Also I did clean and lube the seat tracks. One other thing I had to do was disassemble the screw part of the motor. It had the old white grease in it and the grease had hardened.
